Three things happened today to indicate that the breast cancer awareness campaign is working. I went to Safeway to get a few things for a BBQ and found pink everywhere. As we picked out yoghurt the kids were trying to convince me that we should get the yoghurt with M&Ms on top (to stir in) because it supported breast cancer awareness – I guess the advertising is working on them as a lobbying effort! The picture is what we found at the check out line and they asked if we wanted to make a donation as we checked out.
Second, I spied Jasper with a few black and purple rubber bracelets on, one of which said I love boobies. I’m not sure that’s a saying that I want my 13 year old boy to wear on his wrist, but I kept my mouth shut anyway (which was quite a feat for me!) It turns out that the particular bracelet I saw was from the Keep a Breast Foundation. I’m not sure where he got the bracelet but their awareness campaign is working too!
Last, the merchandise I ordered from Kohl’s arrived today. I had ordered two of the work out shirts and a microfiber towel. I wish that the towel was pink rather than white because when I use to go camping it won’t be white for long 🙁 But, the shirts were fantastic and I loved the designs, which weren’t your usual pink ribbon. I loved this particular campaign because 100% of the proceeds go to fight breast cancer. Each item came with a tag that advertised both FILA and Kohl’s – it had FILA Sport on one side with “Commit to a promising future with FILA SPORT exclusively at Kohl’s” and Kohl’s Cares Supporting Women’s Health on the other side with “100% of the net profit from this item will be donated to support the fight against breast cancer.” Now, I wish I knew what “net profit” meant in this case. One of the reasons I chose this particular one to support was that 100% went to fight breast cancer – it didn’t say anything about net anything. I just don’t want it to be a situation were the net profit for these items is 5 cents on $10. Hmmm, it may require more digging.
Did you see anything related to breast cancer awareness that was surprising this week?
