Day 7 – Pam Isom

Today’s featured woman is Pam Isom. I have known Pam for several years in the context of our participation in the Vistage peer to peer CEO networking group. It is a pretty raw and authentic group, so I have seen Pam work though many professional and personal issues over the years. She is the CEO of ICE Safety Solutions which is a company that concentrates on CPR and First Aid training – in person and with her new VR Safety application. She first started ICE when she became a mother so that she could work at home as she raised her daughters. Her company has grown phenomenally over the years and now her twin brother and her daughters work with her. With many awards under her belt and clients like Toyota and the Warriors, she must be doing something right!

At her company’s 18th birthday party last year, I saw Pam in action first hand – she was engaging, funny, inclusive, down to earth, and very authentic. She thanked people at that party who had been there with her since the beginning. She also had potential customers at that meeting so they could talk to happy customers and suppliers! Smart cookie, that Pam! We also did an ice breaker activity with business cards so that we could get to know more people than just the ones we had ventured to stand next to. For me it was a lesson in how to do business right – associate with great people, vendors, and customers, and bring them together, all along the way. Most important at that celebration were Pam’s husband Rick and her daughters. It was an amazing celebration of what she has accomplished from first starting a lifestyle business doing CPR training to building a successful company, which just launched one of the first virtual reality CPR training applications on the market.

Pam is one of the most disciplined people I have ever met. Health, exercise, coaching. You name it, if she puts her mind to it, that is exactly what she is doing – from eating no meat for a month to exercising 6 days a week for 90 days. I have seen her level of commitment and discipline and it is unmatched in anyone else I have ever met. Earlier this year, she had a chance to go to the Oscars and cross off that item off her bucket list. While there she had an opportunity to go to an after party with Beyoncé and Jay-Z and she turned it down because she had a 6 am flight to catch. She knew the price she would have to pay to party and then make that flight and she chose her health. That is what discipline looks like. She asks herself – will doing this help me achieve my goals? Will this help me meet my objectives? If so, then she will say yes to it. If not, she doesn’t do it. That’s discipline.

Over the last 18 months, Pam has spent her scraps of spare time developing two new businesses; first is her virtual reality CPR training software and second is NO = New Opportunity. In Pam’s own words, “I want women in business to personally and professionally accept the word no as an acronym of NO = New Opportunity. So many times we are told no, you’re not ready; no, you don’t have enough experience; no, you’re not the right fit; no, you’re too nice; no, you’re too aggressive; and a list of No’s goes on and on. I want women to be empowered so that when you are told NO, you create a new opportunity! Allow the NO to springboard you to make you better, faster, stronger more experienced because with the power of NO, with the power of New Opportunity, we will achieve our dreams!”

Pam has dedicated her career to the health and safety of others lives. She is looking for a great project coordinator for her safety company as well as a kick-ass project manager for her new virtual reality software. See more info at www.getice.com.If you are serious about either of these two positions at Pam’s company, please PM me for more specific contact info. Or you can submit your inquiry through her Contact Us page on her company website and let her know that you heard about her through the 90 Women/90 Days project.

Pam is ALL that!

Who, in your life, “is ALL that?”

  2. Thank you Sonya. I checked out all your underlined and WOW! What an accomplished person your friend is! I would like to go to one of the programs in Fremont. Our Lions district has a training of sorts so I would like to see if I can put Pam’s company and ous group together. Many Lions have accepted the challenge to be at emergency’s which involve each of their communities. Like when the San Bruno fire happened Lions set up a kitchen for the Police and Firemen.
