I want to say thank you to those who comment on my blogs, however it is that they comment: in public, on Facebook, or in private. One of the things I have found is that blog readers comment on Facebook or Twitter first and then the blog itself. Regular blog readers and subscribers are more likely to comment on my blog than other types of blog readers!
My most commented posts are:
- You Packed What?!? In a Carry-On? This was a fun post to write. We had gone on a trip to FLorida and I can’t believe what I actually had in my carry-on and that I could lift it 🙂 I guess others felt the same!
- Confessions of an iPhone App Addict – I loved this post. I think I need to do another one of the millions of apps that I have downloaded since.
- A post on Michealene Cristini Risley and her film that debuted earlier this year. I was thrilled to be able to see the premiere of this movie in Palo Alto and to be able to honor my friend.
- Am I Really a Special Ed Advocate? Anyone with a child who has needs outside the ordinary school experience needs to read this post! You know your child best and can advocate for him/her like no other person can.
- Day 4 of our PEI or Bust Trip from 2010. I’m not sure why this one is the most popular in terms of comments, but the whole trip was fantastic. I still need to finish the write-up past Day 8 🙂
Most of the traffic on my blog is from subscribers or from referrers. The top referrals are:
- Facebook – from my postings or on PractiGal.
- Google searches – the searches people run are very amusing. I’m amazed people actually find what they are looking for with some of the search terms I see listed.
- Twitter – when I manage to tweet, now that I have switched over to self-hosted word press and no longer have the publicize functionality.
- Now that I have a self-hosted word press site, LinkWithin is a top referrer to other pages on my blog. I love this Plug-In!
My top commenters in terms of actual people are:
- CoolMama – thank you Jenn. My favorite post you did is the Smurf-color your husband painted your front porch and his experience repainting it :0
- Shelley – Thank you for running the 31dbbb program – it was enormously helpful.
- SuzRocks – thank you for all your feedback, it was very insightful.
- Alison – Thank you for giving me the kick in the butt to make a better blog and for commenting on my posts along the way!
- Greg – not sure it counts for a top commenter to be your husband or other family member, but I need to give credit where credit is due! Thanks Greg.
The post that surprises me in terms of the comments made – and most of these appeared in the Facebook feed – was on the post I wrote on Foreclosed Properties and Junk Mail Hell. Both of those posts were opinions written in haste about topics that made me very irritated at the moment I wrote those posts. I guess the perfect wasn’t the enemy of the good for those tidbits!
All of this is a long winded way to say – you never know what, of everything that you write, will strike a chord with someone, so keep writing. And please, keep commenting!
