One of my favorites – and definitely a conversation starter!
SLO by any other name would be Shelbi Lavender Original. I was recently introduced to Shelbi through a friend who bought her SLO jewelry and was wearing a couple of these pieces when she came to visit. Heather taunted me with these beautiful necklaces, full of blang! Now I want to share this with you!
Shelbi now sells on Facebook only – she used to sell in other venues and sometimes still does in person, if you are lucky enough to find her. You can see a lot of her work on Pinterest on this page, this one, and this one. In order to share her fabulous jewelry making talent with you, I’m putting together a SLO handbook for you today:
1. You have to find her on Facebook and friend her – tell her PractiGal (aka Sonya Sigler) sent you to her. I’ve been stopped by strangers and asked about my jewelry. One woman in LA, while we were at intermission at the Pantages Theater, looked Shelbi up on Facebook and it turns out she had one mutual connection with Shelbi, through her own cousin in Nashville, which is where Shelbi lives. Small world, very small world.
2. You need to check that Shelbi Lavender is showing up in your Facebook feed and when you see a picture of piece of jewelry posted with a price, you can like it (or lick it, if you really want to be part of the inside crowd) and say “Mine” in the comments. That means you just bought yourself a piece of SLO jewelry, a Shelbi Lavender Original.
SLO Mail Arrives
3. Pay her promptly through Paypal, and include any special instructions, like necklace length, etc.
4. Wait ever so patiently for your SLO mail to arrive, which it will if you have followed Step 3 closely.
5. It will arrive in a box, wrapped in pretty tissue paper, with a little love note from Shelbi, and possibly you will find your piece of SLO jewelry engraved with something just for you. My pieces, including the Fairy of Power shown below, did include a special message and I am not ready to share those personal messages with y’all at the moment, otherwise I would post a picture of that too!
6. Snap a picture of you in your new blang, and post it to Facebook for Shelbi to share and add to her a FB albums.
7. Repeat steps 2-6 as many times as you want, can afford, can rob a bank to support, or convince others to buy for you (spouses are known to troll the SLO page and find the “perfect” gift for their honeys), you get the picture… Enjoy!
