This is the third installment of Getting to Know You where I answer a few questions so that you can get to know me a bit better.
What makes you mad?
Ignorance or unwillingness to learn or better yourself makes me insane. When people aren’t willing to take the time to inform themselves yet speak out on topics with ignorance or misinformation, I tune them out (which means most politicians, newscasters, internet commentators, etc.). Traffic makes me irritated so I have taken to listening to books while I drive which helps me take a chill pill while driving and have a more pleasant commute in the Bay Area.
What movie has the greatest ending?
I have no idea – Gone with the Wind, Casablanca, Silver Linings Playbook, Frozen, Atonement? Not sure – I’m trying to think of memorable endings and their message. I mentioned these movies because they gave you a sense of things would be OK even if they didn’t turn out how you thought they should or expected.
What is on your nightstand?
I think I have 40 books on my night stand/shelves, with 4 journals (one for me and each kid), a clock radio with a docking station, an iPad mini, a notepad and pen, a fresh flower in a vase, lip balm, ear plugs, tissues, water. Of the 40 or so books, I am in the middle of reading about 10 of them.
What can you not miss on TV?
I don’t watch a lot of TV. When I do, I tend to watch sports with my boys. I mostly binge watch TV shows like Scandal (I love Kerry Washington), Mad Men, Downton Abbey, Masters of Sex, and Silicon Valley. I’ve been told that I need to check out Orange is the New Black.
What is on your bucket list?
I have a list of things to do, places to go a mile long. But there are a few specific things on my bucket list like bungee jumping and sky-diving. But a few are more important than others — Visiting Mt. McKinley with McKinley; Visiting Bryce Canyon with Bryce; Visiting Jasper National Park with Jasper, among other things. Most things on my bucket list are getting done – spending more time with my family and with my kids (1:1), trying new things on a regular basis (belly dancing anyone?), and writing.
