One of the ways to honor someone is to put together a tribute album to them – for a birthday, for retirement, for a special occasion, etc. One of the best presents I ever received was a photo collage of pictures from college until now. That took a lot of time to go back through photos and scan them in and make something with them. I appreciated all of the effort that went into making that collage. I enjoy seeing it every day on my wall of photos!
I’m a Creative Memories consultant, albeit low key, mostly for myself and friends and family, but I’ve been doing this since 2004. A couple of weeks ago, I helped an 85 year old woman organize her pictures to hang them in her office. She wanted to honor her husband and children and her grandchildren. She was making her office a beautiful space. One wall would contain legacy photos; one wall would contain pictures of her husband (one of the first Asian execs at FedEx); one wall would contain pictures of her grandchildren; one of her children; and one wall would contain artwork done by her family. Some of it had been framed, some pictures needed reframing and some needed framing, period.
I loved helping her because she was so appreciative of someone coming in to help her get a handle on one of three problems – those framed pictures, her loose photos and her digital pictures. We were only able to tackle one of those problems that day but it made such a difference for her to finish one of her most important tasks and to be able to enjoy the pictures of her family.
Seeing how important those tributes were to her family (those here and those gone), made me think that it is doubly important to remember those who have/had breast cancer and have survived or for those who want to make a tribute to a family member with breast cancer. I wanted to highlight the special bundle called ThinkPink available from Creative Memories. You can see the one on my consultant site if you are interested. As I said a couple of days ago, NO pressure, I’m just putting it out there in case you want to make a tribute album to honor someone. The pink pages, albums and decorations can be used to make an especially poignant tribute.
If you do make an album in honor of someone with breast cancer or someone who died from it, please share it or tell me about it.
